‘Everybody’s Oma – a family’s dementia journey’: upcoming webinar

Must read

In this webinar, on Tuesday, May 17, join the creators of Everybody’s Oma, a personal and heart-warming documentary about one family’s dementia journey, for an hour-long insight into their story.

During lockdown, Jason van Genderen and wife Megan, created playful video experiments in the hope of helping Jason’s mother, Hendrika, make sense of her home isolation as she negotiated life with Alzheimer’s disease and Vascular Dementia.

When Hendrika, or ‘Oma’, moved from living at home to supported care, their imaginative approach, including making supermarkets, clothes boutiques and even an underwater aquarium for her to enjoy, found hope amidst the heartbreak.

The videos struck a chord and went viral with more than 50,000,000 views, and the creative couple featured on countless news networks, blogs and shows such as A Current Affair here in Australia, and in the States on The Late Late Show with James Corden and breakfast TV show, Good Morning America.
