National aged care provider Hall & Prior Health & Aged Care Group is the first Commonwealth approved aged care provider in WA to offer in-house COVID-19 vaccinations to its staff.
On August 2 a special clinic was held at Hall & Prior’s Tuohy Aged Care Home in Midland to administer the vaccine to staff at Perth metropolitan homes.
Two regional homes in Donnybrook and Albany also held special COVID-19 vaccination clinics for staff in the South West and Great Southern regions a fortnight ago.
Hall & Prior has 2400 staff and 30 aged care homes in WA and NSW, as well as community and palliative care services and is taking the initiative to vaccinate their staff to protect the vulnerable residents they care for.
It’s an initiative that’s backed by the Federal Government which has mandated that all eligible aged care workers must receive the COVID-19 vaccine by September 17, 2021.
Hall & Prior chief executive officer Graeme Prior said residents would be further protected by all staff having their vaccinations.
“Giving our residential aged care home staff the vaccine as a priority will help protect our residents who are some of the most vulnerable in our society,” Prior said.
“We’re very excited to be able to do this.”
Hall & Prior is an industry leader in vaccinations – they have championed a free influenza vaccine for staff for the past decade, resulting in outstanding immunisation rates across the Group.
As of June 1, 2021, 100 per cent of all eligible staff in WA and NSW had received the current influenza vaccination.
Hall & Prior homes in WA will host COVID-19 vaccination clinics until mid-September, giving staff the chance to receive both of their shots and become fully vaccinated.
